Nissan Port Dundas, Glasgow
This project for Vertu Motors will be the main Nissan dealership for the city of Glasgow, and occupies a prime site to the north of the city centre,
highly visible from the M8.
The design for the facility fully utilises the site, both in terms of square meters, and by making the most of its prominent position. The building
is split over 3 storeys, with the main 550sq.m showroom at first floor level, directly accessed from Port Dundas Road. The used car sales areas
and workshop (containing 12 work bays and 1no. Class 7 MOT bay) are at the lower level, allowing easy vehicular access. An 8 storey vehicle display
tower, the first of its kind in Scotland, will be visible from the motorway, while 2 washbays, 3 valet bays and vehicle storage facilities are
provided within a 3 level multi-storey car park, maximising the capacity of this tight urban site.
The facility is designed to current Nissan Corporate Standards and will be a Specialist light commercial vehicle centre, as well as displaying Nissan’s
high performance Nismo range. MMH were originally appointed by Vertu Motors to obtain planning permission, and were subsequently novated to the
main contractor to deliver the project. As well as acting as lead consultant, MMH are also engaged as Principal Designer under CDM 2015.
